MEMORIAL DAY

The Memorial was dedicated on Veterans Day 1987.  Since 1988, we have gathered on Memorial Day to hold a ceremony to honor our fallen by reading each name and by sharing the moment with all who wish to attend and join us in this annual rite of recognition.

In the photo, Gary Brannan (age 84) stands resolutely and unmoving to honor every name read aloud prior to the fly-over of the Ravens to open the rest of the ceremony in 2022.  His dedication captures the essence of what we feel.  Thank you, Gary...and Semper Fi, Brother.

Each of the galleries below shows only a small handful of photos from the ceremonies of 2022 and 2019 and were provided by Kari Pero.  The 2019 event was the last time Jerry Pero was able to participate.  Jerry passed in 2020.  He played a crucial role in the VVOMF.

NOTE: If you were at the ceremony in 2022 or 2023 and took photos or videos, please contact me (Jud Blakely) and I will make an effort to include them here.  I look forward to hearing from you and I'll reply ASAP to any message you send.

As of 29 June 2023, I have NO video or photos of the ceremony held a month ago at the Memorial.  This is why the slideshow has just a couple shots of Colonel Al Arguedas USMCR (ret), our speaker, and few other photos at present.  I'm hoping to add many more.
